Since our founding in 1974, Gray Panthers has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults. As we close out Older Americans Month and this year's theme, “Powered by Connection,” we celebrate the vital role that relationships and social interactions play in promoting health and well-being. And we're asking for your help.
Our longstanding motto, “Age and Youth in Action,” continues to guide our mission. The recent pandemic has highlighted the importance of our work, especially in the realm of long-term care, giving our cause greater visibility and urgency.
Here are some key achievements from recent years:
In 2021, we released the award-winning documentary, National Day of Remembrance: Honoring Nursing Home Lives.
We’ve hosted over 30 Transformation Tuesday webinars, addressing critical issues in long-term care and other challenges faced by older adults. Explore our recordings here.
We've organized multiple side events at the United Nations, including our recent side event: Energizing Action Against Ageism.
Last year, we introduced the Above and Beyond Award, recognizing six professionals in long-term care—emerging leaders who advocate for the elderly. Each honoree received a certificate, a monetary award, and a congratulatory letter from a member of Congress.
