This month's Transformation Tuesday will be a recap of what Gray Panthers NYC (GPNYC) has accomplished over the past year of the pandemic - “National Day of Remembrance: Honoring Nursing Home Lives” - Our 2021 award-winning documentary featuring several guests and elder care experts, including a member of the Senate's Special Committee, the Hon. Kirsten Gillibrand and the chair of the Committee on Aging in the New York State Assembly Ron Kim.
Each monthly session's panel is composed of industry leaders and elder care advocates with the goal to improve oversight of nursing home facilities. Over the past 12 months, this series has offered participants a safe space to speak about the unspeakable, and has provided a platform to a wide array of elected officials, elder care professionals, advocates who give voice to the marginalized and overlooked.

WHY: The topic is a reflection on the year past with regard to nursing home reform and the expression of grief for New York's enormous losses due to the pandemic. Equally important is where we, as advocates and a society, wish to be in 2023 with regard to these critical issues.
